Trusts and Estates
The Firm assists clients with structuring Turks & Caicos Islands trusts and corporate structures to protect assets, to allow for the orderly transfer of wealth on death, and to minimize or defer tax, or both. The Firm’s work in this area involves liaising with clients and their foreign advisors on the local aspects of international trust structures, to provide the best vehicle for a client’s estate planning.
The Firm advises settlors, trustees, protectors, and beneficiaries of their rights and obligations under TCI trust law.
The Firm’s practice in respect of estate work involves the drafting of wills, advising on and securing Grants of Probate, Grants of Letters of Administration, and Grants of Letters of Administration de bonis non. The Firm also secures the resealing and registration of foreign Grants of Probate and facilitates the administration of the local aspects of estates with an international dimension. The Firm has also successfully represented and advised clients on complex estates matters involving estates that had not been properly and fully administered after more than two centuries.
